What is Turnline?

More than flying. The entire operation.

A real airline flight doesn’t start when the engines do. Long before pushback, a dispatcher has planned the route and fuel, ground crews are preparing the aircraft, passengers are boarding, and an operations team is watching the whole schedule.

Turnline is a next-generation airline operations simulation platform for Microsoft Flight Simulator, designed to connect flight planning, aircraft operations, passengers, ground handling, operational decisions, and postflight analysis into one cohesive experience.

Every flight has a plan. Every operation has moving parts. Every decision affects what happens next.

Flight dispatch

Plans the route, fuel and paperwork the flight is released with.

Pilots & aircraft

Fly the plan and handle what changes along the way. That’s you.

Ground services

Fuel, catering, baggage and pushback at the gate.

Passengers & cabin

Boarding, cabin service and the people the flight is for.

Air traffic control

Clearances, slots and sequencing that shape the timeline.

Operations control

Keeps the schedule running and decides how to handle disruption.

Turnline connects them around one flight TURNLINE 247

How Turnline works

Six stages. One continuous flight.

Each stage hands something to the next: the plan sets expectations, preparation decides when you’re ready, what happens on departure shapes the rest of the flight, and the debrief explains why it went the way it did.

  1. Plan

    Planned

Import a dispatch plan, review route and fuel information, and establish the operational baseline.

  2. Prepare

    Planned

Manage gate readiness, aircraft preparation, passenger boarding, and ground-service milestones.

  3. Depart

    In active development

Track operational milestones and respond to delays or constraints.

  4. Operate

    In active development

Monitor the flight and operational consequences as events unfold.

  5. Arrive

    In active development

Manage arrival, turnaround completion, and final flight status.

  6. Debrief

    In active development

Understand performance, disruption causes, decisions, and overall operational results.

Stage labels describe the experience as a whole. Today’s internal builds detect flight phases and record a flight timeline; dispatch import, turnaround workflows, delay handling and cause-based debriefs are planned. The Feature Explorer below lists each capability’s status.

Why Turnline is different

One flight. One connected operation.

Turnline’s focus isn’t a longer feature list. It’s operational cause and effect: what happens in one part of the flight carrying through to the next.

A typical multi-tool flight today

Great tools, each running on its own clock.

  • Separate tools
  • Disconnected timelines
  • Independent events
  • Limited cross-system consequences

The connected operation Turnline is designed for

One timeline, where a late milestone moves everything after it.

  • Unified operational timeline
  • Events influencing downstream operations
  • Aircraft-aware workflows
  • Connected operational decisions
  • Meaningful postflight analysis

Designed to work alongside your add-ons, not replace them. Planning tools, ATC services, ground-handling add-ons and aircraft systems each do their job well. Turnline aims to sit across them and give the flight a single operational story.

A design goal, not a verdict. We’re describing what Turnline is being built to do. How well it delivers on that is for you to judge once you can try it.

Decisions have weight

Holding for passengers, accepting a late servicing slot or adding fuel each trade one outcome for another. Consequences make those choices mean something.

Delays have causes

A late departure tells you little on its own. Knowing it started with boarding at 14:12 tells you what to do differently.

The debrief tells the story

Connecting cause and effect turns a log of times into an account of how your operation actually ran.

Ground-service interoperability under investigation. Not a working integration or a partnership.

  • Research

    Aircraft ACARS / AOC ecosystems

Researching aircraft-specific messaging. Support would vary by aircraft and what it exposes.

Integration support depends on documented interfaces, each aircraft’s capabilities, and the permission of the provider involved. Some connections may prove impractical, and we’ll say so if they do. Statuses here are updated as work progresses; “Research” means we’re investigating, not that support is coming.

What is Turnline?

Turnline is an airline operations simulation platform in development for Microsoft Flight Simulator. It aims to connect flight planning, ground handling, passengers, the live flight and the postflight debrief into one operation, so decisions and delays carry through the whole flight.

Is Turnline a flight tracker or an airline management game?

Neither, exactly. A flight tracker records where you flew; an airline management game usually has you run a company from a spreadsheet. Turnline focuses on the operation around each flight you actually fly: the plan, the preparation, what happens on the day, and the debrief.

Which flight simulators will Turnline support?

Turnline is being built for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Windows PCs. Compatibility with each simulator is being validated separately and isn’t confirmed yet for either.

Will Turnline work with SimBrief?

SimBrief import is planned. It isn’t available yet, and it will depend on the provider’s documented interfaces and terms. Turnline isn’t affiliated with Navigraph or SimBrief.

Will it work with SayIntentions and GSX?

Both are under investigation. There’s no working integration or partnership today, and we can’t promise one. Whether it’s possible depends on what each product exposes and on its developer’s permission.

Will aircraft ACARS systems be supported?

We’re researching it. ACARS/AOC features differ from aircraft to aircraft, so any support would be aircraft-specific and depend on what each aircraft makes available. No aircraft is supported today.

Can I use Turnline with my existing add-ons?

That’s the intent. Turnline is designed to run alongside your aircraft, planning tools, ATC and ground-handling add-ons rather than replace them. Specific compatibility will be confirmed through testing before we make any claims.

Is Turnline available now?

No. Turnline is in development and there’s no public download yet. Joining the early-access list is the best way to hear when that changes.

Will Turnline be free?

Pricing hasn’t been decided or announced. We won’t speculate until we can give you a straight answer.

What do I get by joining the early-access list?
